Queen Elizabeth Is Searching for a New Assistant Chef — Food News

December 28, 2017

If you're feeling a little unsatisfied with your day job, then there's a new opportunity on the market that you should probably consider. It's a job fit for a queen, or rather it would be your job to cook for her on an everyday basis. Queen Elizabeth is looking for a Demi Chef de Partie, or an assistant chef, to come cook for her and her guests at Buckingham Palace. It's a full-time position.

Yes, that's right — it's time to dust off your resume and put those cooking skills to work!

The idea of living in a palace is a dream come true. Oh, that's right — did I mention that the person who accepts the position will be the newest resident of Buckingham Palace? Forget trying to marry into the royal family like Meghan Markle — cooking for the Queen seems far easier (as long as you don't use garlic).

You can check out the full job posting if you need more details, but here's a quick snippet.

This is no ordinary Demi Chef de Partie role. In our state-of-the-art kitchens, you'll prepare classical and contemporary menus for a wide range of events, learning essential skills that will provide stepping stones for a great career.

Joining our accomplished and close-knit team, you'll work hands-on to deliver food to the very highest standards. Every day will be different. You'll prepare receptions and state dinners, as well as staff lunches.

The good news is that even though the position doesn't pay terribly well (around $27,000 USD), you will have room and board paid for in addition to all your meals covered and different recreational opportunities as well. So it's like living at your parent's house again — if, you know, your mum was the Queen of England and gave you 33 days off a year including bank holidays.
