In April, we ran a feature package called Sober Celebration. It was a good reminder to us and our readers that a lot of people do not drink. For all sorts of reasons, too — maybe they're in recovery, have health-related reasons, don't like how it makes them feel, or they're the designated driver for the night.
If there's ever a time to revisit those stories, it's now — during the holidays and right before New Year's Eve.
When someone tells you that they don't drink, you should never follow it up wanting to know if they miss the taste of wine. You should also never say any of these other way-too-common things.

Got a friend who says she's not drinking this week? Do not make her feel bad about it. And do not order her a glass of wine just because you want one!
Juice, soda, and seltzer are just fine, but let's be honest with ourselves — we can do so much better when it comes to serving up non-boozy drinks. And what might surprise you is that it really takes very little effort. Each one of these mocktails is easy to stir together, full of flavor, and just as refreshing as it is pretty.
