5 of Our All-Time Favorite IKEA Kitchens — Kitchens from Santa

December 27, 2017

The only thing that's more fun than looking through the IKEA catalog? Looking at real-life kitchens made with IKEA cabinets. The store is a go-to for renovators for a reason: The cabinets are affordable, versatile, and beautiful. In the spirit of the holidays, we've rounded up five of our all-time favorite IKEA kitchens. Take a look for fun — even if you're not planning a remodel any time soon.

Sigh. It's just too bad none of these were waiting for us under the tree on Monday.

1. Black IKEA Cabinets with Butcher Block Counters

Black cabinets typically scream "edgy and cool people live here" and this kitchen, featured on Remodelista, is no exception. The homeowners paired IKEA Metod and Laxarby collections — SEKTION is the closest equivalent in the States — with IKEA butcher block counters, an induction cooktop, and industrial scissor wall sconces.

2. Semihandmade Doors with IKEA Cabinets

This breezy sage green kitchen from blogger and designer Sarah Sherman Samuel is stunning for so many reasons — the gorgeous hardware, the stunning pendant lights, the sleek marble countertop and backsplash. We could go on and on. The cabinets are IKEA, while the doors and drawer fronts are from Semihandmade and painted in Pigeon by Farrow & Ball. The result is a chic space that doesn't feel cookie cutter in any way.

3. SEKTION Cabinets in Gray

Can you believe this kitchen, from Chris Loves Julia, was done in just six days? It's true! The duo behind the blog designed the space as part of a gut renovation for family members and it's almost completely unrecognizable from the before. They chose IKEA's SEKTION cabinets — also with Semihandmade cabinet doors in Super Matte Light Gray. The timeless look is completed by butcher block countertops, white subway tile, vintage rugs and paintings, and sleek Frigidaire appliances.

4. VEDDINGE Cabinets in Gray

To transform her space, Cate — the interior designer and stylist behind Cate St Hill — chose IKEA's VEDDINGE cabinets, which are simple and contemporary with a shiny exterior (available in white or gray) and minimal hardware. She completed her space with IKEA's RASKOG cart, a tiled backsplash from Fired Earth, and various simple, effortless accessories.

5. GREVSTA Stainless Steel Cabinets

IKEA's offerings extend beyond wood and fiberboard: This Stockholm kitchen — from Entrance — features cabinets with stainless steel drawers from IKEA's GREVSTA line. The cold metal gets warmed up by a white marble countertop and ornate wallpaper.
