Back in March, we went a little pegboard crazy. And we still find it totally justifiable. The kitchen pegboard is one of the most underrated, highly versatile ways to organize. Think about it: You don't need a ton of space, or any real carpentry skills, or a ton of money. You just have to hang the board wherever you have a blank wall and then you can store whatever needs a home. You can even rearrange and repurpose the board as your needs change.

1. Hanging one is easy.

You just need a few basic tools, like a drill and a tape measure. Much of the work of cutting the pegboard and wood can be done by your local lumber or big-box hardware store, like Home Depot. Bring this equipment list, then head home to follow these easy instructions.

2. You really do have to paint it.

Even if you're careful and always dry your dishes before putting them away, your pegboard is probably going to get wet. A few coats of paint will help seal the wood and protected it against water damage.

3. There are plenty of ways to set up your pegboard.

4. And all sorts of accessories.

Again, you don't have to spend a ton of money on your pegboard, but there are plenty of inexpensive accessories you can buy and use. Magazine holders, for example, are totally practical for a pegboard. Same for baskets and little glass vases.

5. It's a good way to get your family and friends to help clean up.

Want people to help you dry dishes and put them away? Add a crime-scene-like outline to your board and people will know what goes where. It's sneaky but it works!

6. You don't even have to hang it on a wall.
