You Can Now Take an Online Cooking Class with Alice Waters — Food News
If you've ever leafed through one of Alice Waters' cookbooks or been lucky enough to eat a meal at Chez Panisse, then you know why Waters is often labeled as the queen of Californian — if not American — cooking. The way she handles food feels like magic, and now you have the opportunity to learn from her in a totally new way.
If you follow more than one food-related entity on Facebook, there's a good chance you've had your feed speckled with advertisements for the MasterClass chef series. Essentially the site gives you the opportunity to learn from some of the best cooks in the world. The online learning site just announced a slew of new chefs to their course catalog, including Alice Waters in spring 2018. There are also classes from Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck, and Gordon Ramsay (who launched his class earlier this year).
"Wherever you live in this world, I want to demystify cooking and connect it to the beauty and bounty of nature," Waters says in her trailer for the class. "Recipes are a framework, but the most important thing is the ingredient — where you find it, how you cook it, and how you will turn it into a beautiful meal."
Waters' class sounds half like talk therapy and half like a cooking course. Count me in!
For $90 per course, you can listen to Alice Waters teach you how to cook. If you want to go all in you can pony up $180 per year to have access to all MasterClass options, new and old, from all walks of life. This means chefs, actresses, fashion designers, and more sharing with you the intricacies of their field. Just plug in the phrase MasterClass into YouTube and you'll quickly want to take them all. You can sign up here!
