Everybody is thrilled about the engagement of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. He's over the moon. Their parents are thrilled. Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are overjoyed. All the royals have issued statements about how happy they are about the young couple's engagement.

And now Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have received the blessing of the food queen herself, Ina Garten.

Ina Garten took to Twitter to congratulate the young couple, and joined them in praising the magic powers of a good roast chicken.

"Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan!" she wrote on Twitter. "I always knew roast chicken had magic powers!! I'm so happy for both of you!"

Ina Garten is speaking, of course, of the rumored magical powers of "engagement chicken," a roast chicken so delicious that if you make it for a romantic partner, you will wind up engaged.

And Meghan Markle and Prince Harry really did get engaged over a roast chicken — it must have been the most powerful engagement chicken of all time.

In an interview about their engagement yesterday afternoon, Meghan Markle described the proposal as "sweet, natural, and very romantic." Prince Harry said it was just a typical night for them, staying in at their home in Nottingham Cottage and cooking together. He said he was cooking roast chicken when he got down on one knee and surprised her.

"It was a really nice moment," he said. "It was just the two of us and I think managed to catch her by surprise as well."

It sounds like a beautiful moment, and he picked the right dish to cook, too. When Prince William wanted to impress Kate Middleton, he tried to cook lasagna. But when Prince Harry wanted to impress Meghan Markle, he knew there was only one dish that would do it: roast chicken.

Meghan Markle is an avid cook, and an aficionado of roast chicken.

"There's nothing as delicious (or impressive) as a perfectly roasted chicken," she told Good Housekeeping in 2016, before she started dating Prince Harry. "I think people think that it's like, [something] you pick up at the grocery store. No, no, no. If you have an Ina Garten-level roasted chicken, it's a game-changer. I bring that to dinner parties and make a lot of friends."

Among her many infallible chicken recipes, Ina Garten has a particularly famous take on Engagement Chicken that involves stuffing a chicken with garlic and lemon, surrounding it with an onion while it roasts, and finishing it with a flavorful pan sauce. It's basically perfect.

Prince Harry did not specify what roast chicken he made for Meghan Markle, but whatever he chose, it clearly worked.
