Trader Joe's Just Released Our New Favorite Salad — Shopping

November 03, 2017

As good as the gochujang-flavored almonds and frozen appetizers are at Trader Joe's, there's really one thing that keeps me hitting up my local TJ's as often as I do: the ready-made salads.

Yes, I realize that salads aren't hard to make on my own, but during the busy weekdays I love to turn one bag into lunch for two days. It started with this salad we wrote about in the summer, and now my Trader Joe's salad obsession has no limits. Which is why I'm so excited about this new salad option.

An alphabet-themed salad featuring raw apples, beets, carrots, kale, and a sweet and tangy orange-poppy seed dressing! What's not to love? It's literally all of the best fall ingredients! (Except it's missing cheese. Note to self: It may be worth adding cheese to this!) Affectionately called the ABC+K Slaw, the container comes with the produce arranged in rainbow order (so pretty!) and a separate dressing packet (to preserve that desirable crunch).

Buy: ABC+K Slaw, $4.50 for 10.5-ounce container

The ever-so-clever Trader Joe's suggests adding grilled chicken strips or tofu to turn the slaw into a meal — something I can totally do during the week when I need to sneak in a quick desk lunch between meetings.

While it may be technically be a slaw, it's definitely not the mayo-laden type we're all used to. And it works way more like a salad than a slaw. It actually reminds me a lot of this Thanksgiving slaw we came up with last year!
