D Is for Your Drinking Buddy — Shopping

November 24, 2017

It's five o'clock somewhere — and you need a gift for your drinking buddy! Sure, you could take her out for a special holiday cocktail at your favorite local bar, but you know she won't let you pay. Show her how much you care — and how much you love having her as your go-to happy hour pal — with one of these boozy gifts for her to use or enjoy at home.

  1. Gold Rim Rocks Cup, $28 for two at Settle Ceramics: Give these oh-so-beautiful cups to your favorite friend and she'll think of you every time she pours herself a drink at home.
  2. Cocktail Syrup 3-Pack Set, $35 at W&P Designs: This set makes it easy for non-mixologists to whip up Old Fashioned cocktails, Moscow Mules, or spicy margaritas. The recipient just has to mix the syrup with the hard stuff. If you're feeling extra generous, you can also add the necessary bottles of booze.
  3. Wölffer Pink Gin, $34 at Wölffer Estate: It might not be rosé season anymore, but your friend can still get her fix with this pink gin. It's made with super popular Wölffer Estate Rosé wine (grapes instead of grains!), features handpicked juniper berries, and is distilled in a copper pot.
  4. Numbered Cocktail Stirrers, $16 for six at Terrain: These stirrers, available in brass or copper, can help the gals in your cookbook club differentiate whose drink is whose.
  5. Rabbit Ice Bucket, $80 at Bloomingdale's: As old fashioned as they seem, every home bartender needs an ice bucket. This one is decidedly modern.
  6. Stillhouse Original Whiskey, $29 at ReserveBar: The only thing better than this clear corn whiskey is the stainless steel container it comes in, which helps chill the booze extra quickly.
  7. Golden Flask, $64 at Tandem Ceramics: This isn't the sort of flask your friend is going to be able to stash in her purse (it can break!), but it's so pretty, she'll want to keep it out on her bar cart, anyway. It's handmade and gets painted (with 22-karat gold) in one of four graphic patterns.
  8. Happy Hour Candle, $32 at Original Scent: What does happy hour smell like? Apparently a mix of pineapple, green coconut, mint, and Tahitian vanilla.
  9. Saguaro Bottle Opener, $58 at Son of a Sailor: We could have made an entire 100-item gift guide of kitchen things that look like cacti. Instead, we decided to show some restraint and just pick this adorable solid, raw brass bottle opener, which comes with a little stand.
  10. Current Monthly Kit, $40 at SaloonBox: Perfect for drinkers who like to host happy hour at home, this box comes with everything needed to make a craft cocktail at home for a group of four (or two thirsty) people. The cocktails (and ingredients) change each month and are curated by professional bartenders around the country.
  11. Shot Glasses, $8 for two at Mako: These shot glasses, which are part of a brand-new line of barware, got the dipped treatment.
  12. Brass Decanter Labels, $15 for four at World Market: We love that these tags aren't overly masculine, so they'll look great on any sort of home bar — including an ultra-glam one.
  13. Grandmaster Flask, $62 at Mouth: For tailgaters or anyone who wants to slip some booze into their coat pocket, this punny kit comes with vodka, bourbon, and bësk (the indie version of Chicago's famous bitter botanical spirit known as malört).
  14. Penguin Cocktail Shaker, $49 at Mark & Graham: There's something adorably retro about this little stainless steel guy. To add to his cuteness, you can monogram your friend's initials onto his belly for an extra $9.50.
  15. Marble and Rose Gold Coasters, $10 for four at Target: These super-pretty coasters are legit heavy, which means they won't annoyingly stick to the bottom of a cup when people go to pick them up.
