Giada's Favorite Childhood Snack Is Seriously Strange — Kitchen Heroes
We all ate unusual things when we were kids. Is that a safe assumption to make? No, I'm not talking about dirt or inedible things, more like the testing of unusual flavor combinations. That's what you do when you're a kid and you're curious about everything — you test it out! Sometimes they stick (like my affection for peanut butter and pickles and onion — don't judge) and sometimes they don't.
But when you become a television personality and celebrity chef, your weird foods never go back in the closet.
Food Network recently posted a video on Instagram where celebrities explained their favorite childhood snacks. Obviously Alton Brown takes the cake for his dog food patties. Thankfully his food tastes have grown up a bit since then. And Alex Guarnaschelli's affection for homemade chocolate pudding seems so adult for such a young kid. I'd honestly like to eat her mom's chocolate pudding right now for a snack.
And then there's Giada's favorite childhood snack. Apparently she use to love dipping Milano cookies into lemonade. Dipping cookies in milk is, of course, a classic, but lemonade? Maybe it's the sweet-and-sour combination that's appealing? Wouldn't the cookie instantly turn into mush?
It's oddly refreshing to know that Giada is a human on some level too. Between her perfect teeth (why did I not wear my retainer longer after braces?!) and her ability to whip up stunning Italian food, I wouldn't call her favorite childhood snack a flaw, but it's a plus in the category of normalcy for this writer!
In my own house we abide by the phrase, "Don't yuck my yum!" And of course I can't knock this combo until I try it, but I don't think I'll be running to the store anytime soon for the ingredients.
What was your favorite childhood snack?
