8 Brilliant Ways to Store Rolls of Foil, Parchment Paper, and Plastic Wrap — Organizing Tips from Kitchn

January 05, 2018

You probably use aluminum foil, parchment paper, and plastic wrap on a fairly regular basis, but do you have a dedicated storage system for them? Whether you want to stow them away inside your pantry or kitchen cabinets, or you need a way to get them off the counter and make them more easily dispensable (seriously, raise your hand if you've ever fought with a roll of plastic wrap just trying to get it out of the box!), there are plenty of smart storage solutions to buy or DIY to make your kitchen more organized and your life a lot easier.

Below, some clever storage ideas to get you inspired — and some only cost a few dollars and two minutes of your time.

1. Mount them with hooks.

Ask Anna found a super-simple (and inexpensive!) way to mount your kitchen wrap to just about anywhere (think: your wall, cabinet door, pantry door, the side of your refrigerator, etc.). All you need are a few stick-on hooks, and voila! All your wraps, foils, and papers are easily dispensable.

2. Hang them with dowels.

As an alternative to just using hooks, you can steal this tip from I Heart Organizing and mount your food storage rolls on a dowel (which then rests on a pair of stick-on hooks) for easy dispensing and replacing.

3. Invest in a specially designed organizer.

For a simple solution you don't have to DIY, this wall- (or cabinet door-) mounted kitchen wrap organizer from Bed Bath & Beyond is the perfect fix — it has space for four boxes of rolls or food storage bags and can go just about anywhere you need it to. Note: This would work with a magazine holder, too!

4. Use a Modern Dispenser

6. Smartly stack them inside cabinets.

If you need a way to store your rolls of kitchen wrap inside your cabinets without taking up too much valuable space, try a rack that lets you stack them, like this one, which has space for six rolls.

7. Swap out the packaging.

An easy way to upgrade your aluminum foil and plastic wrap rolls even further? Take them out of their original packaging, and put them inside a more stylish dispenser.

8. Stash them under a shelf.

A special rack that hangs under an existing shelf helps to create bonus storage out of space that would otherwise go wasted. In addition to holding foil and plastic wrap, a shelf like this can organize napkins, small plates, and more.
