This Australian Couple Just Had Their Dream Wedding at Costco — Grocery News

September 25, 2017

Sue Berkeley and Eli Bob of Sydney, Australia tied the knot at their local Costco this past Saturday. The couple's reasoning for getting married at the discount store? "Where else can I get married to the one I love, in the place that I love, surrounded by the people I love?" Sue tells A Current Affair.

Sue walked down the tire aisle to meet her husband, Eli, who was waiting in the food court. About 90 close friends and family were invited to the wedding, while hundreds of regular Costco customers looked on (and were probably confused) during the ceremony.

When the ceremony was over, the food court was used as as a reception venue. There were hot dogs, pizza, fountain drinks, and a sheet cake.

So why did the couple decide to get married at Costco? "The initial idea of the wedding was meant as a bit of joke," Sue explains. "I've got a big family and so does he, and I wondered how we were going to do it. Then I thought I should get married at Costco because I'm there all the time — so it just made sense."

My big question for Sue and Eli is if they got a membership discount on the wedding. And I wonder if they took advantage of Costco's new registry feature (although maybe that's only available in the U.S.)? I have to assume any bargain-loving couple trying to save some cash on a wedding would have taken advantage of what Costco has to offer.
