I am so impressed by people who are creative home mixologists, who can stir up inventive beverages with interesting notes and unique flavors. My friend Stephanie falls into this category and I love seeing the wonderful things she comes up with. I suppose someday I’ll get there too but just like improvisational cooking, it comes with practice. A few months ago, Stephanie made a rendition of this delicious cocktail for a fun girls’ night at her place and I’ve been playing around testing and tweaking it on my own so that I could share it with you.
This cocktail is perfect for laid back spring and summer afternoons and evenings, for lounging with good friends and good music, for porch sitting on a lovely evening, or even for a nice quiet evening with a great book. With gin, lemon, and honey, it’s in the bee’s knees family, but the addition of chamomile tea and orange bitters to this version add complexity and interest that make this concoction especially sippable and delicious. Though it is pictured here with an ice sphere, I ultimately decided I liked this best over crushed ice. Don’t skip the orange bitters, they really make a difference. Cheers, and happy weekend friends!
