Vermont Photography + Styling + Mixology Workshop

Last year I hosted a food photography and styling workshop in Vermont alongside Carey Nershi, Lauren + Jake Brown of Red & Brown, Megan Dunn, and Betsy Thompson (aka pie wizard). The period leading up to this workshop was a bit crazy, since an insane snowstorm hit a few days beforehand and my flight from Oregon was cancelled, so I had to scramble to find a last-minute flight that would get me there in time. Luckily, I was able to make it out only a day later than my original flight and everyone made it safely in one piece! Whew! We had such an awesome group of attendees join us—Nikole, Hans, Jennifer, Mat, Katy, and Elise — thank you all SO much for taking part in our snowy adventure! And a huge thanks to my co-hosts for helping make it happen!! <3

We spent the workshop at Telfer Hill Farm in rural Vermont, complete with insanely huge windows that had the most incredible views of the snow-covered sweeping rolling hills all around us. When they arrived, our attendees were greeted with a little (jk! It was kinda huge) bundle of Vermont goodness in their rooms, including Red House Vermont linen tea towels, Facture Goods egg cups + spoons, Finex cast iron skillets, Republic of Vermont maple syrup, Nershi Woodworks spreaders, Caledonia Spirits raw honey, and a Crate & Barrel 11-piece bar tool kit. We ate/shot many incredible pastries that Betsy made with all the Vermont Creamery dairy goodness, and had some of the most epic breakfasts of all time. We ate delicious meals off of Farmhouse Pottery ceramic dinnerware with Red House Vermont linen napkins and Amy Rochelle Press menus. We learned all about making cocktails from Lauren and Jake of Red & Brown, including lessons on classic cocktails and some fun cold-weather ones we made with delicious locally made Mad River Distillers whiskey + rum. We visited Sweet Stone Maple Farm and got to see a sap house and learn all about how maple syrup is harvested and made (and got to try some “sap” straight from the tree tap!), and we also stopped by Caledonia Spirits and learned about the distilling process and sampled some of the tasty liquors they make from local honey. It was a very beautiful five days, filled to the brim with Vermont magic, and I’m so thankful to everyone who helped make it happen + joined us!
