Gift Guide 2018

December 04, 2018

This year I felt really, really ready for Christmas. Not I’ve-already-gotten-everyone’s-gifts-squared-away ready, but just really really ready for the nesting aspect of the holiday. The sharing of food and good company, decorating the house with fun and festive chotskies, spending hours in the warm kitchen baking, filling the house with the smell of cinnamon and butter…there’s so many things I love about this time of year.

One thing that I always like to experiment with is wrapping the gifts in a fun and unique way, and this year I found the most AMAZING small business in Seattle (Flower Seed Paper) that makes their own wrapping paper using sustainable and natural methods, and some of the paper is even embedded with wildflower seeds so you can actually plant the paper in the garden and it will grow flowers in the spring! I bought some and tested it out wrapping up gifts for my family and it folded up and stayed intact just great! I have a list of all the papers + decorations I used to wrap my gifts below to help help plant some creative gift-wrapping seeds in your holiday brain.

And it wouldn’t be a gift guide without some amazing small makers + incredible gifts, which I’m sharing below. These are all things I’ve bought over the last year from small shops + makers, or sourced from them for workshop gifts, and really, reallllly loved so I wanted to share them with you, too! I picked gifts with a wide range of prices, so you can find some really nice fancy things if you have a big budget, or some really awesome affordable gifts if you’re budget is a little tight this year (books are always a good go-to for staying wallet friendly!) I also have some amazing charities below that are doing great things for women all over the world. If you aren’t sure what to get someone, making a donation in their name to a special cause is an incredible gift. And if you want an extra burst of gift ideas, you can check out my previous gift guides from 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday, and hope this list helps you find something awesome for the special people in your life!
