This Hot Butterscotch Sauce is the best homemade sauce to serve over ice cream.
Hot Butterscotch Sauce
Why would you want to eat it this sauce hot? Butterscotch sauce is WONDERFUL when served hot over ice cream and other desserts. There is something about the warm, sweet sauce combined with frozen ice cream that really hits home.
This sauce will pour perfectly when warm or hot. When it’s cold, it can be eaten by the spoonful instead. Ha!
How to Make Hot Butterscotch Sauce:
This is a super simple recipe. Four simple ingredients are boiled together in a saucepan until thick, smooth and bubbly. Brown sugar, butter, cream and corn syrup magically turn into this beautiful, sweet sauce.
You will love using it for topping your ice cream. Try drizzling it over bread pudding, apple pie, and apple cake too.
I have a story about this sauce. When I was a teenager, I became pretty attached to butterscotch sauce.
I worked at a family-owned fast food place in the small town I grew up in. They had soft serve ice cream and a variety of the best dessert sauces. Hot butterscotch sauce was one of their best sauces, and I became totally obsessed with it! I’ve been ordering it on my ice cream sundaes ever since.
