This Baked Brie with Fig Jam is an all-time favorite appetizer recipe.

You will need only four ingredients to make this this easy, impressive appetizer. Puff pastry spread with fig jam, topped with a wheel of brie and wrapped up with an egg wash on top. This one is simple to make, but it’s amazing in taste. Serve it with firm crackers or baguette slices, and there won’t be a speck left.

How to make Baked Brie with Fig Jam:

Lay the Puff Pastry on a work surface (a cutting board works great). Spread fig jam in a circle in the middle of the Puff Pastry. Lay a small round of brie on top of the jam. Wrap the pastry around the brie, and twist the top. Set the wrapped brie in an oven-proof baking dish (a pie pan works great). Brush the wrapped brie with egg wash.

Bake for 20 minutes at a higher temperature. Then reduce the temperature and continue to bake until the brie has softened.

The pastry will be golden brown and flaky. The cheese inside will be warm and melted.

When you cut open the baked brie, the melted cheese will ooze out. And it will be combined with the fig jam, which makes it even more amazing than brie all by itself! Serve with crackers and/or baguette slices. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • One sheet Puff Pastry, thawed
  • One 5-inch round brie cheese
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • ¼ cup fig jam

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • Lay the puff pastry on a cutting board. Spread fig jam in the center (about a 5-inch circle). Top with the round of brie.
  • Fold the puff pastry up and over the top of the brie and keep overlapping until all puff pastry has enclosed the brie. Slightly twist the top into a knot to seal.
  • Place the wrapped brie in a baking dish that you'd like to serve from- a pie plate works well. Brush with the egg wash.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until the outside is golden. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F. and cook for an additional few minutes, until the brie has softened.
  • Serve with hard crackers or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Fig jam can sometimes be tough to find. Look in your market's peanut butter and jelly aisle, or if your market has a gourmet cheese section you can usually find it there too.
  • Nutritional information is for the brie only-- not the crackers or bread that you use to dip into it.
