Applesauce made in the slow cooker is the best way to make applesauce! It’s so incredibly easy to just throw everything in your crock pot, and let it simmer all day to turn into the most delicious applesauce ever. Be sure to read the details in this post for the best apples to use for applesauce and more.

And I know that people are going to ask me where I got the cute spoon pictured above. It was a gift from a friend, and I wasn’t able to find the exact spoon on the internet. But I did find a bunch of products with the same “Life is What You Bake It” theme, so check that out if you are interested!

The best apples to use for making applesauce:

There are a lot of good apples to use for making crock pot applesauce. The key to making the best applesauce is to use a variety of apples. It’s okay to use three or four different kinds! The flavors of different varieties of apples are so different, but blending all of those flavors together can be really tasty. I suggest using a mix of the following kinds of apples: Fuji, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, Rome, Braeburn, Granny Smith and Honeycrisp. Just use a variety of the kinds you are able to locate at your market, and all will be good!

How to make Crock Pot Applesauce:

The most time-consuming part of making your own applesauce is peeling and slicing the apples. Then you’ll dump them into your slow cooker and top with water, sugar and cinnamon. Put the lid on and slow cooker for 8 hours. That’s it. Easy, right??

Once the apples have finished their slow cooking cycle, they will be rather soft. You can take your potato masher and mash them into sauce.

Mash as much or as little as you’d like. Leave it more chunky if you prefer an applesauce with more chunks in it.

The nice thing about making Crock Pot Applesauce at home is that you can make it to your liking. If you don’t want it to be really sweet, add less sugar. And if you are following a lighter eating plan (like WW), you can use a sugar substitute in place of real sugar. Just look for a sugar substitute that can be measured cup for cup with sugar. If you like applesauce to be really cinnamony (like mine), you’ll add 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. For a lighter cinnamon flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Enjoy!
