Blueberry Lemon Smoothies are the perfect “cool down” treat to try in the warmer months of the year.
I’m calling these Blueberry Lemon Smoothies a treat because they’re not a typical smoothie recipe. You won’t find any kale in these smoothies. And you won’t find any spinach or greens of any kind. There is no protein powder or bee pollen or yogurt. These are more of a milkshake type of smoothie. And you have a few options for how to make them with substitution suggestions included.
What kind of blender is best for making smoothies?
It’s very simple to make smoothies. You just need to make sure you have a good blender or food processor that will combine everything nicely. I have a Blendtec Blender, and I’ve been very happy with it for many years now. No matter what I put in my Blendtec, it’s able to handle grinding everything up into the perfect consistency. I would also like to try using a Vitamix one of these days… just because I’ve never had one!
I’d love to know your experience with blenders and what you use. Please include your suggestions and advice in the comments below. This is helpful information for us all!
How to make Blueberry Lemon Smoothies:
There are only three ingredients needed for these smoothies. You’ll need Lemon Sherbet or Lemon Sorbet, milk and fresh or frozen blueberries. If you use Lemon Sherbet, your smoothie will have a more creamy texture. Lemon Sorbet will give it more of an icy texture. All you do is blend these three ingredients in your blender, garnish with a few blueberries if you’d like, and that’s it.
What kinds of substitutions can be made for these smoothies?
If you are dairy free, use Lemon Sorbet and then use almond milk or another nut milk in place of regular milk. You can also easily turn this into another flavor of fruit smoothie. Strawberries or raspberries would be a good combination with lemon too.
What’s the difference between sherbet and sorbet?
The main difference between sherbet and sorbet is dairy. Sherbet contains milk or cream (dairy), which gives it a creamier, rich texture. Sorbet does not contain any milk at all.
I recommend you trying this Blueberry Lemon Smoothies recipe on a warm day… one of those days where it’s kind of miserable to go outside because it’s hot and humid and just kind of unbearable. These smoothies will cool you down for sure! Let me know if you try them!
